What about IP address logging on the server?

In the case of server logging, it is a necessary technical part of every server. Logging is used for server administrator diagnostic purposes, and the access log is created automatically with each connection request received.

Occurrences of any errors are also logged.

It is clear from all this that the logging involves the processing of the de facto technical data necessary for the operation of the service in question, and therefore their processing falls within the legitimate interest.

In addition, this data is not regularly processed or passed on to third parties.

It follows that the risk of the negative effects of such processing and possible breaches of the security of such data for internet users is minimal.

In view of all these circumstances, GDPR server operators do not incur any significant new obligations in this respect beyond the general obligations, such as adequate data security or information obligations.
